One of my best friends, Lacey, is pregnant with little Hudson Wade. He is due March 6th, and I cannot wait to meet him!

Lacey let me play around and take some maternity pictures of her while I was home for the holidays. Most of them were not blog appropriate, but I wanted to share a couple. She is such a gorgeous momma-to-be. :)

John Tyler- newborn photography West Monroe, Louisiana

Today I finally got to try shooting a newborn.  It was cloudy and rainy, but 8 day old John Tyler was a perfect little model.

I know I am posting a lot for a sneak peak, but I’m just so excited about these!

I took a few new pictures of Ava today and just played around in photoshop with them this evening.
I’m loving this whole learning process.  It’s so fun!

Back in the July, the fabulous Kyla Branch let me second shoot a wedding with her.  The groom was one of Justin’s cousins so I was very comfortable photographing them!

Ava- 21 months

Here we go…

My husband encouraged me today to start a blog that is devoted only to my photography.  For now this blog will be a place for me to build my portfolio.
To start, I wanted to post some pictures that I have taken of my beautiful niece, Ava Nicole, over the past year.

My name is Melissa. There are many layers of me. I am a child of God. I married the love of my life, Justin, on August 8, 2008. I never knew I could be this happy. I have huge dreams for my future, but try to remember to enjoy each moment. I am blessed.
I have fallen in love with photography. It became my passion while I was searching for a wedding photographer. All of the gorgeous images I saw just captivated me. However, I am now more interested in bellies, babies, and young children. :)
I am still very much in the learning phase and think I always will be.  I’m just happy to finally have found something I enjoy doing so much.
